Poster Project
Oh my oh my. I don't even know where to begin. I'm not really political or big into causes in general, so I had to rack my brain doing the research for this one. Then one day I went to, um, take care of business, and someone didn't flush the freaking toilet. I was like, "I want to start a petition to get people to flush after they go!" And that's where the idea for my cause came from.
This time I decided to stay completely in Illustrator. I decided to try to make some catchy word plays to use as poster ideas for my cause. I specifically avoided showing any actual crap, since I figured my stuff was tasteless enough. I thought of basically every synonym for poop, and made an accompanying rhyme, and that's where my word plays came about. Throw in some cheesy imagery, and there you go. To top it off, I decided to use some of the facts I found while researching the subject, and incorporating one in each poster. I honestly didn't really think much about the color scheme. Obviously the first one is triadic, and I was thinking for the beaver one maybe I should have changed the blue tiles to light brown ones, that way the image is monochromatic. And on the third one, there's a lot of blues and yellows, but Pooh's got a red shirt. Triadic if not for the purple logo!
All of these poster ideas came about pretty randomly. I basically found a rhyme or a catchy phrase and rolled with it. Ultimately the one I'm most proud of is the last. I never envisioned at the beginning of this assignment that it would amount to Spock flushing Winnie the Pooh down the toilet. But that's how my creative mind works. Originally it was just going to be Spock and a play on the phrase,"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few", with few being replaced by poo. Then I thought it would be funnier if poo became Pooh. The ultimate Disney/Star Trek crossover. I mean really, who saw that coming?
I had fun doing this assignment. Moreover I enjoy the fact that my cause has sparked some passionate discussion about unflushed toilets. Mission accomplished!

Good use of color, and great use of humor. However some of the text gets a bit muddled.
