The style and content isn’t as parallel to the assigned article but the idea was that since the monkey lives among people it reflects human characteristics. That’s the reason for the pipe, monocle, and clothing. This isn’t exactly magazine material; the intention was to bring my own style into the overall piece. The overall color choice were darker colors with a slight grayish tint. Although the monkey has a “sophisticated” look to him his mindset is still fixed on monkey mischief…mainly banana’s.
Everything was made with either the pen tool or shapes. For each shape I added an inner glow with a low opacity and dark glow for the darker edges. Everything was laid out, color, line work, shapes, before the bold outline was done. A few texture images are used through out the composition.

  4. Nice graphic stylization, almost too embossed but very well executed and a great illustration. Background gradient was a nice choice.

  6. Excellent use of stoke thickness. I'm glad someone else also has a banana thought bubble.

  7. I love how your art is both simple and detailed. However, the dark glows inside the lines is really strong in a few areas, and (to me) seems to detract from the image itself, especially as it's on every single shape.

  12. I think I found a favorite, just great and hilarious to boot. The mayor, as a Monkey, doing naught but bananas. With a great style, and great colors, this is fantastic work.

  16. Awesome job Sebastion! This stylized version of the monkey is great. The straight lines in his face gives him a mechanical feel yet the curve on his tail gives him an organic feel. Kinda got this Mech/Organic dilemma which is cool. If his eye was glowing red through the monicle we'd all be in trouble!
