So this is the first real project I've ever done in Illustrator. For this project I wanted to draw Vernon Yates as I saw him. I pictured him as some geeky guy with nothing better to do then catch this harmless monkey. First, I scanned in my sketch and then colored and drew everything else in Adobe Illustrator. I didn't draw his eye's because I had no idea how :P

The second was the one I turned to sketches into a GIF to make it look like the monkey was being electrocuted. So I drew to pictures in Adobe Illustrator, then put them in Photoshop to make the GIF.

  1. The gif would be a powerful piece since this was an online article on the Tampa Monkey. 2 Thumbs up.

  6. If this is your first project on illustrator i cant wait to see your last of the semester. Good colors, I like that you chose to do something "different" too.

  9. I love the monkey being electrocuted. I also agree it does sound a little mean when you really think about it but it is create and funny.

  11. While both have their merits, I find putting the GIF into a mag a bit of ask. I do however like the gif. Simple and playful, I do find the guy missing his eyes a little creepy, only once I think about it. But other than that he is well drawn.

  12. The gif is so adorable! For your first illustrator project you did very well on the portrait; this skin turned out nicely! I actually thought the missing eyes has a deeper meaning!

  13. That gif is awesome. It's not so great for the monkey but I like this kind of humor. It's also fresh to see this instead of a standard 2-D digital image.
