Project 2 Book Covers
Whenever I begin a project, I always begin with the thought,"Wouldn't it funny if...?" And everything just goes downhill from there.
Well for my project I decided to do "Charlotte's Web". I remembered watching the cartoon movie when I was a kid, and I saw the book on the list, and I thought,"Wouldn't it be funny if...?" And the results are obvious. For the genres, I thought it would be cool to do a murder mystery, a raunchy comedy, and a trashy romance novel. Since the actual book is a children's novel, I thought it would be hilarious to make it into a bunch of adult genres. My goal for the project, basically, was to completely and totally destroy this book. (Not that I hate it or anything, but I just love completely warping reality. Which I do outside of class too.)
For the murder mystery adaption, I was thinking something like "Silence of the Lambs", and turning Charlotte the spider into a crazed serial killer who kills men. I wanted to make the cover look like a suspense novel, and the handwritten title is something I've seen done on various movies of the same genre. For the raunchy comedy, (Or just the comedy, I didn't double check the genre lists. It's just a comedy if nothing else.) I wanted to make it look like a children's book, but basically make it into a "Dumb and Dumber" type of buddy relationship between the characters. Both Charlotte and Wilbur are just losers who gave up on life and they're getting back at the world by basically making life hell for everybody else. And lastly, the trashy romance novel. For this one I left Illustrator and did it all in Photoshop. For what I wanted to do, I felt more comfortable working in Photoshop, and the results show. I thought it would be hilarious to make it like one of those trashy romance novels you find at the grocery store. I used 2 real people, Fabio the goose-in-the-face has-been male model, for Wilbur, and Elizabeth Hurley for Charlotte. On Charlotte I wanted to give her the same coloring as her character in the cartoon, which is why she's purple. For this version, I also did a back.
Well, that's about it. Hope you guys liked it. Please leave me honest feedback on how you think I did!

Romance = WINNING.
ReplyDeletelmfao this is so awesome. it looks like a legit book XD
Great work on the horror themed cover. However, for the 1st and 2nd cover I would recommend getting rid of the bar at the bottom. They seem unnecessary and don't add any visual value.
ReplyDeleteVery humorous.
ReplyDeleteI like how you did a completely different style for each cover. It shows you are more then a one trick pony with your humorous illustrations. Although two of these are funny as heck. I really like the horror and to me the romance is kind of a "horror" as well ;) I especially like that you did a back cover for it. Very creative al around. Well done.
ReplyDeleteHumorous work as usual, nice ideas and concepts. The pig nose and extra arms was a really funny idea!
ReplyDeleteI love the last one, they all are great though! I really like your artistic style, it makes you laugh and you enjoy looking at them. Good job!
ReplyDeleteGreat job they all look awesome. I think the cartoon one is pretty creepy. The transformation of Fabio is great.
ReplyDeleteI love this XD! Awesome job and the story summary on the 4th image is really cool!
ReplyDeleteI honestly prefer your first two covers, over the third, while the Romance has the most detail. and maybe the most wrk put into it, I am not liking the photoshop look to it. I think more work on it would really make it shine. That being said, its still a goof cover and is the most hilarious of the three. Great back cover for it.
ReplyDeleteGood job they all turned out great… funny as always and clean crisp imagery.. super.
ReplyDeleteAll of the covers really fit your style of work, especially the comedy. The pigs facial expression is great! Your work looks so complex with such small detail.
ReplyDeleteI like the humor in these. My favorite is the first one. Charlotte looks menacing.
ReplyDeleteI think your work is done well and you can really tell your style does show through. The color palette is nice too and fits it.
ReplyDeleteYour work is humorous. They all have different styles yet have humorous incorporated throughout.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome feedback everybody! I really enjoyed this project, and everybody did great!
