I really like all three concepts, it might be easier to critique if I knew the genres you are going for but I can see how some of them are coming and they look amazing. The last one seems really creepy but in a good way. Great job.
I do like the chibi kind of style of your first one and the last one you're doing has a great horror kind of feel if that's what you were trying to create. Good luck on your project look forward to seeing it!
I really like the style of your first sketch. I feel like there have been hundreds of different depictions of Alice In Wonderland, but this style is one I have not seen. I look forward to seeing the end result.
What book are these for? What genres? You give us nothing to work with.
The first image is cute, but again, I have no idea what you're trying to do. The body structure of the girl in the second picture is making me cringe, with her spaghetti arms, dislocated shoulder, and water balloons. The third one, like the first one, I can't tell what you're aiming for.
Your sketches are great and illustrated well, for the most part it seems like they're somewhat comical except for the last one, but they seem like great ideas. Very nice.
The anime version is hilarious. The only one of the three covers that looks like it needs more detail to understand that it is Alice in Wonderland is the remake of the original. Also, there is actually a pretty creepy film version of Alice in Wonderland that was made by a surrealist Czech artist, Jan Svankmajer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_%281988_film%29

ReplyDeleteI like the last one because it has a very gritty feel. I recommend processing it a bit more to look less like it was done in Photoshop.
