For this project I checked out Amber's poster and decided to do a fun spin on the opposite of cupcake wars being "anti-war cupcakes". I also used John's idea about the U.S. and Russia being at odds to help with one of the concepts. After sketching several in my notebook I as usual could not decide on one, so I did three. I used all illustrator and played with several new tools such as the flare and the paint brushes and stamps. I even made the star and Russian symbols into paint brushes. I used the line and shape gradients to create a shiny cupcake cup look. It was fun to learn new tools.
As far as concept, I liked the idea "make peace, not war" of anti-war posters but with a fun and almost silly feel to it. I got that idea from Lance who makes everything kind of tongue-in-cheek humor. Which is great. Sometimes we can get far too serious and I liked this lighter side of persuasive design.

All of these posters have a good message but you could have put more work into the first 2 posters. Also, remember to properly crop off white space.
ReplyDeleteall of them look awesome very well done.
ReplyDeleteRussian cupcakes whut? Ha, I think my favorite of the three is your middle one the design is really nice and the colors work well together. Text works well too! Nice job on all of them though!
ReplyDeleteI like all three of these, I really like the third one and the message it has!
ReplyDeleteI like your 2nd one i think its a cute little saying.
ReplyDeleteGreat work as always Angela! Nice to know another three-poster pony!
ReplyDeleteI love these posters they are great! The colors are perfect for the theme and I love the ideas of "make cupcakes not war." That is definitely something I would say for those who know me because I love baking so much and its just fun.
ReplyDeleteHonestly your first and third ones I an not likely the use of gradients, nor the fonts you chose. And no its not because you are using Papyrus. I also think you could have made the cup cakes in both look more like cupcakes. Your Middle poster is much better on the other hand, and I like what you did with the mushroom cloud, very nice.
ReplyDeleteI like how you sort of used two ideas and made them into one. Great ideas and the pattern of the second poster is awesome. It is an great way to use a brush. Other than that I just think the typography could use some work. Good job.
