So the first one is based off of a NAzi anti-bible poster, and the second is a take on a "V For Vendetta" poster seen in both the movie and the graphic novel. For the first one I wanted it to have a very vintage feel and look both in color and in style. So I look at even more poster to get a good style, as well as a good color palette. I also wanted a good font that said it belonged in the theme, so I looked at the style s of fonts that the used in the vintage posters to get one that would fit. However I chose one not used by the Germans so much as one used to portray them. The majority of the poster was done using the pen tool, over a sample picture to get the books and blade in there. The background was done using a texture picture, and blending modes. The same was done for the text.
For the other picture I wanted a purely text based picture, one with little art so I looked to "V For Vendetta", it had some great posters for it. I copied the idea for the main poster seen at the start of the story. It had the main slogan for the "Evil British Empire" on it and I though it would great to turn it on its head. The font is Helvetica, and as far as the background goes, it basicly a copy of the normal poster, just with an anti- reading twist, so nothing special. From them a looked for good examples of the "V" logo used by the main character, and manipulated it using multiple layers to get it to look like spray paint. A simple paper texture was placed in the background, and an opacity shift applied to get it to stand out less.

Great work on the first poster. The message and colors are very striking. I would recommend adding a cast shadow to the top book on the pile.
ReplyDeleteI think out of the two your first one is my favorite. I like the colors and the text you've got. I think the idea is really well executed with the knife stabbing into the books, even without the text you could figure out what it's about. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteWow. Very well done. I love the look of the red spray paint with the dripping and everything. I love the background of the first poster it looks really professional.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work. I actually really like the V on the bottom one. It looks like it was spray-painted.
ReplyDeleteThe second one is pretty cool with the spray paint, over the text.
ReplyDeleteDear lord what garbage is this! oh cast it from my site at once this vagabond must be stopped from making any more of this trash!
ReplyDeleteGood concepts, and good choice of fonts. I feel that the books could be enlarged and maybe change "Books are the Enemy" to red instead of the bottom section. Other than that good work.
ReplyDeletelol you rebel you. I like your ideas, the V is perfect.
ReplyDeleteboth of them look great very well done.
ReplyDeleteknot sur I gett the ponit.. :) j/k Like the bottom one with the spray paint over the top… looks really rebellious and fight the power'ish they both are nicely done.
ReplyDeleteYour posters came out nice and they look organized. You get your point across.
ReplyDeleteI feel both a really well done the color choices work well and it is pretty organized looking. :)
