Weekly Inspiration

I know we only need one but I am an over achiever I am told.  I couldn't decide which I loved best.  I was telling the husband the other night that I LOVE video games art.  With Final Fantasy especially.  It is amazingly beautiful and incredibly creative and detailed.  Amazing.

Week 9 design

Always love it when people use their hands or bodies and paint them to look something like this.

Posters

For my posters, I chose to demonstrate how unfairly women are treated in the game industry. I focused primarily on statistics rather than fancy images.

The lines in the corners are because I was in auto-mode for setting up the project pages, as in my other class we had just gotten done with two poster projects designed for print.

WEEK 9 ILLUSTRATION

Ricky Gervais Caricature. Caricature art isn't just about big heads and cheesy smiles. Line work and style is a huge essence of true caricature artwork...and humor. :)

I've been typed obsessed lately.

Project 3

For this project I used the pen tool. I used geometric shapes because it looked more clean. The work was tedious but I think it looks okay. I individually colored each shape and had to adjust them so they aligned with each other. I'm sure there was an easier way to accomplish this but I just worked with what I knew.
For the first poster I went with a TV show called Ghost Adventures. I wasn't satisfied with my original idea things began to look to cluttered. I wanted to make ghost hunting equipment and have them somehow incorporated in the poster.
The second poster is my fear of the depth of the ocean. I think the dark color just gives it away. I kept the geometric shapes because my drawing skills are weak.

I love this style :)

Weekly Design/Illustration Examples

Very awesome illustration by Roberto Oletto. I want to be able to make stuff like this really really bad. I just haven't put in the time to practice painterly techniques in Photoshop yet.

Project 3 Part A: Vampire Poster

Here are my 2 poster designs. It's about vampires and they're supposed to show how evil and bad they are as opposed to cute and sparkly. The bottom one is meh... and the top one isn't really scary as it is scary to look at.These were very rushed and I'm not too happy with the final product but I had to move on so that the next design doesn't suffer as well. My rebuttals will be better.

Project 3: POSTERS

My first poster is related to the very real and extremely volatile situation in Ukraine with the Former Soviet Union ( Russia ), Russia is basically falling back to their old ways and simply occupying a Country for no other reason than than want to..My poster consists of the old Soviet Union flag under an image of the American flag, with two silhouette images of Vladimir Putin and Pres. Obama in discussion over the  actions taken in Ukraine. I guess you could call it my attempt at serious humor.

So my second poster is another attempt at minor humor regarding a serious action drama hit TV show that is making it’s return to television. My favorite TV show for nearly 9 seasons was 24, before they ended the series rather anti climatically. Now they are ringing the TV show back in MAY.. so my poster combines that shows return with an interesting comment calling out Russia and the cold war.

PROJECT 3 POSTER 1 ... so far

Criminal Minds Poster: George Foyet, the Reaper.

Project 3 Posters

Here is one of my posters, both of my posters have different subjects, this one is for one of my favorite shows, "Cupcake Wars," on the Food Network channel, the other poster is not finished but it is an
advertisement to adopt sheltered animals. To do this I drew the image out on paper first and then scanned it in to Illustrator and added the colors I wanted. I also found a text online and put it into Illustrator and made it stand out on the background. The color scheme I used is Triad. I mostly tried to keep this whole poster simple with not too many details but it still goes with the theme of the subject. I will most likely do the same with the other poster.

Project 3 Part A: Poster 1 In Progress

Both unfinished, this is the most complete of the two.

Project 3 Part A

Project 3:Posters

So here are my two posters. The cause should be fairly obvious, but I will not convince you, you must make up your own damned mind, Join the crusade to Stop Malthael, or not. For the Malthael poster I used a few reference pictures of him to try and get him right, but a lot of the pictures out there are all fan made, and the ones by Blizzards have a rather low quality for what I need. I drew him using nothing but the pen tool, and semi tracing him out, but i also had to account for other elements that where present in each image I used, and they may not have been things I wanted. Also I wanted it to look more like a "Wanted" poster. So I need a kinda of lack of detail vs. a proper recreation of the character. I only added a couple of gradients to pull him from the background, as I felt he blended in to well. As for his "Face" I made it a black hole as thats whats he has for one in the game, as do all Angelic characters.

For the other poster I wanted to reference the shield wielded by the new Crusader class character, but I wanted it to be different, much like the real crusaders in how they all had a different shield, but all had a cross of some kind. So i wanted it to be a more unique symbol, but it still references the original is both shapes and color. This one was made mostly using the pen tool, and shape tool to cut it out and then refined with the direct selection tool. From there it was all about the text and making it look like it was printed on paper. I dropped the opacity and added a couple of layers to add objects to help make it all blend in better, and cut the sharpness.

EDIT: So I altered the files that where uploaded here, and I finally got the second one fixed. So now you can read the text. yea turns out the text was to complicated. So I had to find a few ways to simplify it. Not just using the simplify option, but I also added in a few steps in pathfinder.

Poster Project

Oh my oh my. I don't even know where to begin. I'm not really political or big into causes in general, so I had to rack my brain doing the research for this one. Then one day I went to, um, take care of business, and someone didn't flush the freaking toilet. I was like, "I want to start a petition to get people to flush after they go!" And that's where the idea for my cause came from.

This time I decided to stay completely in Illustrator. I decided to try to make some catchy word plays to use as poster ideas for my cause. I specifically avoided showing any actual crap, since I figured my stuff was tasteless enough. I thought of basically every synonym for poop, and made an accompanying rhyme, and that's where my word plays came about. Throw in some cheesy imagery, and there you go. To top it off, I decided to use some of the facts I found while researching the subject, and incorporating one in each poster. I honestly didn't really think much about the color scheme. Obviously the first one is triadic, and I was thinking for the beaver one maybe I should have changed the blue tiles to light brown ones, that way the image is monochromatic. And on the third one, there's a lot of blues and yellows, but Pooh's got a red shirt. Triadic if not for the purple logo!

All of these poster ideas came about pretty randomly. I basically found a rhyme or a catchy phrase and rolled with it. Ultimately the one I'm most proud of is the last.  I never envisioned at the beginning of this assignment that it would amount to Spock flushing Winnie the Pooh down the toilet. But that's how my creative mind works. Originally it was just going to be Spock and a play on the phrase,"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few", with few being replaced by poo. Then I thought it would be funnier if poo became Pooh. The ultimate Disney/Star Trek crossover. I mean really, who saw that coming?

I had fun doing this assignment. Moreover I enjoy the fact that my cause has sparked some passionate discussion about unflushed toilets. Mission accomplished!
