work sketch

I'm using the book "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and i'm going to be doing a crime version which is in the top left (just keeping it basic police badge with the Guide logo on it and a gun next to it), a redo of the scifi cover which is in the top right (got bigthink I the background and marvin's severed arm/"gun"), and a spy/comedy which is on the bottom (where i have marvin the robot laying on a bed trying to look seductive.

  1. I Love the robot and how he is positioned! the crime one is cool to, I would move the badge a little to the right so it's the main focus.

  6. Great book, should be interesting to see how these get fleshed out and done in illustrator.

  8. All three sketches are great. However, I am a fan of comedy so i already know that I will particularly like that one the most. For the crime scene, I think it would be cool if you put the badge and gun either on a desk or a nightstand.

  9. The one I like most is that robot one for sure! I like the monitor title too.

  10. All of the covers look nice so far, and it's fairly easy to see where you're going with them. I think my favorite would have to be the spy/comedy one; I would probably pick up the book myself with that cover, and I normally don't even like spy or comedy stories.

  11. I would love to see Marvin the Robot in a sexy pose. His body is so oddly proportioned that it would be a hard drawing but I think you can do it!

  13. The idea for the spy/comedy cover is very clever; definitely funny. I look forward to seeing all of these finished!

  14. The seductive robot is hilarious. I'm glad you didn't give the robot a svelte body, so the cover functions as more ridiculous than actually seductive looking.
