Project 2 Character Design ideas

Here's my two lovers for Charlotte's Web, the trashy romance novel version. I think Fabio as a pig is a good design idea for the character of Wilbur. And for Charlotte, I used a random picture of a girl, which to me looks a tad like Gal Gadot from the Fast and the Furious movies. I decided to use the same coloration as her character in the Charlotte's Web cartoon movie- grayish skin, purple hair, with striking blue eyes and a pair of antennae. I wanted to humanize both characters, because I can't for the life of me think of how a pig and spider are supposed to get it on. Plus, that's more disturbing than I really want to go. Charlotte will, however, have an additional pair arms and legs, and the final design for the novel will display how I plan to implement those anatomical differences, though I really want to make it somewhat tasteful. Tasteful for what it is, anyway. It won't be any more risque than a regular romance novel you'll find at Safeway.

I just realized something: If these two had a kid, it would be Spider-Pig from The Simpson's Movie. Maybe an idea for the sequel. Oh wait, Charlotte dies. Oh well, no spider pigs this time. Maybe Wilbur will hook up with the human girl instead, and just have semi-ugly kids.

I also just added another rough sketch of the book cover idea.

  1. I absolutely love these ideas! I can't wait to see the full body sketches. you should make charlotte have little fangs, and it might be cool to have the two embracing in the barn and have the web above them with the title.

  3. I like the idea of using the barn door etc as the background for the novel. That would just be hilarious and appropriate. I like the coloring of Charlotte and that she is pretty and yet still looks like a spider. Any more spider ish and she wouldn't be sexy and you want to keep her sexy if she is going on the front of a romance novel. Nice Fabio. I think that might improve his looks ;)

  10. Yes. You should consider doing the back of the book covers as well, so you can include your blurbs for each new version of Charlotte's Web.

  11. Just out of curiosity, why do I have fewer comments than everyone else? I'd like to hear what everyone has to say, even if you don't like it. And if you don't like it, tell me why and what would work better. I appreciate the feedback I got so from those of you who left comments. I just hope more of you would comment in the future. Refusing to comment is not particularly respectful. DapperCrapper's soapbox, signing off.
