This is my Horror variant of Fahrenheit 451. The only thing I haven't gotten too is adding the highlights and shadows to the body of the character, other wise its done. I rather like, but I was also hoping ti would be darker. Yes I did it in CMYK, but this is exported in RGB, so the colors are a little off. The font I used is called Defused, its from the game : GRID. EDIT: This is the finished version.
Here is my take on Dystopian, well its pretty basic, high contrast, used a photo reference for the buildings, but it was all done with the pen and line tools. Added a splash of color for the title. I thought to best get the idea of a hopeless future was to use stark colors, and the best color combo is still black, white, and red. The red font is from Gears of War, another game (notice a pattern here). EDIT: I added some vertical lines to help separate the parts of each area of the book jacket.
Here is is Mystery remake for the book. Yes that is still the Pyro from TF2 being used a device. So games again rule the day. I did notice the mystery covers have no one defining thread or even a common theme. So I sued a few ideas I found to make this one seem different than most I had seen, yet still feel like something you would see all the time. Yet at the same time it still fits the original premise of the books, mostly as there is lots of intrigue in the book.

Great job on the gas mask. I mentioned earlier on your sketch ideas I'd love to see the gas mask in detail. You didn't disappoint. Great job.
ReplyDeletethis is a hard one....i think i like the 3rd one best...something about it catches my eye more and its mysterious enough to reel you in.
ReplyDeleteI really like the first one. I like the detail on the gas mask and how the fire reflects in the eyes of the mask.
ReplyDeleteGreat skills in illustrator!
ReplyDeleteI like the concept of adding in a TF2 Pyro for the covers. I would change up the color schemes of each cover because they blend together visually and do not effectively show off the different genres of book.
ReplyDeleteThey all look amazing. Great job.
ReplyDeleteWell done. Very finished and polished look to all of them. I like that you did both sides of the book cover. I like the silhouette in the door frame. It is creepy mostly because it doesn't give away too much.
ReplyDeleteOh god just what am I looking at! these are terrible! oh just wrong, so so wrong! Please stop doing this and just delete them!
ReplyDeleteWow impressive, front and back covers for these! My favorite one is the first one, The design and flame really add a dramatic effect to the cover and I find that very important when you're browsing books whether a library or online.
ReplyDeleteAll the covers are awesome! I remember reading the book. Your covers would look really cool if they were published. :D
ReplyDeleteFits the book and like the imagery thanks for the narratives.. I'd have to say the first one looks really good, the flame affects super..and just good clean professional style work..
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic, and very professional looking! The first one has to be my favorite though, I love the details in the mask. Great work!
ReplyDeleteWow too good. These look like simple design but I feel like i took alot of work. I like how you not only did the cover but the spine and back as well. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job doing these, your style is nice and the colors fit the books well. Really great job!
ReplyDeleteThe gas mask looks complicated. I like all the book jackets!
