BOOK COVER PROJECT JOBrien

I selected the book LONE SURVIVOR, I have several different images that I am working through for the alternative genres. The story of the original novel LONE SURVIVOR, is a true story, my alternative themes are Western, specifically SPAGGETTI Western, SPY INTRIGUE/Murder Mystery, SCI-FI, and SPY ADVENTURE, and FEME-FATAL Muder mystery, Let me know what you think?
These were very quick off the cuff sketches...

  1. I like the sixth idea the best. I like how it fills the cover and that there isn't really that much negative space. I also like the mystery cover, reminds me of sherlock :)

  2. They are a little difficult to see but I like what I can see. There are many good sketches to choose from. I like the genres you chose. Thank you for the explanation. It really helps.

  5. Like that you have so many sketches, helps to bring ideas out! The black and white ones you have are drawing my attention more and the sword with the rose as well. Very nice!

  6. I think you have some good ideas, you just need to flesh them out a bit more, and add a lot of detail to each area. But you only needed three ideas.

  7. You can change the images to black and white to create more contrast but it was nice to see so many ideas. You should be able to come up with something you like quite easily.

  8. I like strong contrast of the sketch with the horse silhouette and shadow. I feel like the imagery is the strongest, and I can imagine the end result looking very clean.

  9. Lots of sketches means lots of ideas. Nice to see that creativity. It might be hard to be hard to pick only three from these but I'm sure the ones you pick will come out great.

  10. It seems like you have a lot of great ideas for this and I also think the more sketches the better. I do like the sword and the rose as well and the black and white ones too. Very nice ideas and images.

  12. The sketches with the cowboy badge are good. I would develop the background more to empathize the separation of the character form the environment.

  13. The images are extremely hard to see, and I can't tell what's going on in any of them.

  14. I like that you're getting into really specific sub-genres, spaghetti western and femme fatale murder mystery sound especially interesting as choices. It's definitely hard to take decent photos from above, it might help if you were to prop the notebook up, or pin the pages to the wall before shooting them.
