FINAL PROJECT

I separated my portfolio into two sections, that being illustration and editorial cartoons. The first half were personal work and projects done for various courses over the year. The Editorial cartoons are all commissioned and published for the The Mesa Legend Newspaper, MCC's newspaper. I tried creating a unified style through out my portfolio.

My print on demand was a bunch of doodles. Not too satisfied with my composition although it is pretty cool to see it printed as some kind of hand held object. My site still needs a lot of work done! I'll customize it more later but for now it'll do for a grade.

Andrea's Final Critique

Ok so I am going for all four tracks:
Graphic Design, Digital Illustration, Digital Photography, and Web Design
my hard drive crashed in December and I lost all of the original files to all my past work

(a week before I was going to buy a new solid state hard drive, portable drive, and desktop external)

so I was very limited to what I could print for this portfolio. I Basically printed what ever I could find for this project. I have a few things that I have done for Non Profit Organizations, School projects, and Some photography. I plan to seriously put in some work this summer to build up my work again.

As for the Print On Demand Object, I did business cards along with an engraved card holder. I figured since I lost all of the work I was most proud of I would print something that I would benefit from instead of a random rushed design on a shirt. (Vistaprint)

My brother sent me this pic because he knows that I love making fun cupcakes.

My Awesome Final

The process behind my Final was to make something that I knew I could put to good use. Something I would love so that if I couldn't sell it or give it away I could use it. I started out messing around in Illustrator with colors and concepts different color schemes and ideas for making a great project. I decided to stick with a dark and bright blue for the background. I felt it very cheerful and Spring-y. I went with Daisies and used Illustrator to make them and arrange them so that they are spiraling off of the phone case. I then narrowed down my idea for a Mother's Day present and researched Kanji for Mother and Grandmother. I created them and made them white placing them on either side of the daisies for a symmetrical balanced look.

My concept was to design an awesome phone case and once I narrowed it down a to Mother's Day present I tried to personalize it for my mother. She loves daisies and blue so I went with that. She also loves it when I include foreign languages in with my art projects/presents so I went with those on the cover as well. I think many people would love this design, not just my mother but since money is a little tight at the end of the semester I cannot afford to buy/make several.
